The Force Awakens: Better Health, Better Care, Better Value in America

Doc HandsThe Force is with you, Jedi health care workers! This infamous Star Wars theme headlined an annual health care presentation, sponsored by the McLaren Greater Lansing Healthcare Foundation’s Business Partners in Health Committee.

The State of the State of Healthcare brought out a diverse group of Lansing leaders to listen to featured speaker Susan Dentzer, President and CEO of The Network for Excellence in Health Innovation.

During her presentation, The Force Awakens: Better Health, Better Care, Better Value in America, Dentzer provided updates on the current state of healthcare, by examining the latest policy changes and the impact they’re having on patient treatment and care. In a twist on a typical analysis, Dentzer compared health care in the United States to the movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, likening health care workers who are trying to improve the system to the Jedi who are fighting The Dark Side, which in her terms is a system that waits until people get sick to give them “health care”.

Fraser Trebilcock’s health care attorneys were among the business and medical professionals taking in the expert analysis on industry trends. Complexities of changing health care laws and heightened enforcement of regulations combine to create unique challenges for health care ventures. Click here for more information on Fraser Trebilcock’s health care practice.
