One of the requirements under the Affordable Care Act effective for plan years beginning on or after January 1, 2014 was that insured health plans in the small group market could not impose a deductible exceeding $2,000/$4,000.
However, this provision has now been repealed. The Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014, recently passed by Congress and signed by the President, eliminates the deductible limitation and does so effective as of the date the Affordable Care Act was enacted (as if the deductible limitation never existed).
