Demonstrating continued skill in defending premises-liability actions, Fraser Trebilcock attorneys Gary Rogers and Ryan Kauffman have obtained summary disposition of a lawsuit filed against their client, a Lansing-area apartment complex. The lawsuit was brought against the apartment complex by one of its tenants, who allegedly slipped and fell on snow and ice while walking along a sidewalk within the complex. The case raised issues of the landlord's statutory duty to keep common areas fit for their intended purposes as well as issues related to the open and obvious doctrine. This is the second time in as many months that Gary and Ryan have obtained summary disposition of premises-liability claims brought against a landlord client.
