Public Utility Law
Summary
Much of our utility practice includes representing user groups or large volume customers seeking reasonable rates and interconnection terms from large investor-owned utilities. We are well-versed in the complex disputes that often arise over proper methods of rate design and cost recovery.
We also work extensively with independent power producers, PURPA qualifying facilities, merchant plants, and alternative electric suppliers. From generation projects to regulatory proceedings, financial closings to litigation, our attorneys are highly skilled in all aspects of public utility work.
Our clients are typically multinational corporations with extensive operations in Michigan. To avoid conflicts of interest, we do not represent Consumers Energy or Detroit Edison. Some of our representative clients include:
- Dow Corning Corporation
- Dynegy Power Corporation
- Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation
- Cliffs Natural Resources
- Michigan Power L.P.
- Olympus Power
- Tondu Corporation
- Enbridge
