Fraser Trebilcock sadly reports the passing of our friend and partner, Stephen L. Burlingame, on July 2, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. As a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and colleague, Stephen enjoyed and lived life to the fullest. We will miss him.

Stephen was a 1977 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and did his undergraduate studies at Andrews University. Stephen joined Fraser Trebilcock after law school in March 1978, and soon thereafter served on the Executive Committee and as President of the firm from 1987 through 1989. He was a member of the State Bar of Michigan, U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and U.S. District, Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.

While at Fraser Trebilcock, Stephen was a frequent lecturer at seminars throughout the state of Michigan on real estate, employment, and environmental law. He was also Chair of the Business Law Section of the Ingham County Bar Association. Stephen served on the Board of Directors of a variety of community organizations, including the Legal Aid of Central Michigan, Lansing Rotary Club, and MCA of Greater Lansing.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Mary, and children: Meredith Lajewski (Andrew), Christopher, Timothy (Lisa) and grandson Robby Burlingame. Siblings David (Jenifer) Burlingame, Richard (Deborah) Burlingame, Gary Burlingame (Kara Cattani) and Diane Wendth (Ron); sister-in-law Margaret (George) Pangman and many nieces and nephews.
