Fraser Trebilcock sadly reports the passing of our friend and partner Jonathan E. Raven on January 26, 2021 after a long and challenging struggle with cancer. Jon fought cancer like he fought for his clients with tenacity, knowledge and a will to prevail. As a husband, father, grandfather, friend and colleague, Jon enjoyed and lived his life to the fullest. We will miss him.

Jonathan was a 1975 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and did his undergraduate studies at Western Michigan University. Jonathan was a longtime Shareholder at Fraser Trebilcock, was a member of the State Bar of Michigan, U.S. District, Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and Board Member Emeritus of Sparrow Health System.

Prior to Jonathan joining Fraser Trebilcock, he spent a number of years in Flint, Michigan by working at Nu Vision Optical. He was an integral part in the growth of the company, expanding their locations across the country and assisting Nu Vision Optical in the transition to a publicly-traded company.

When Jonathan returned to Lansing, he quickly became involved in leadership positions in the region. He was elected to serve on the Sparrow Health System Board of Directors where he was Vice Chair of the Board. It was during these years that Sparrow Health System became a well-known teaching hospital with partnerships across the country. Jonathan Chaired the Audit Finance Committee for several years, and was a part of the team attributed to the construction of the West Tower on Sparrow’s Lansing Campus.

During this time, Jonathan became an elected member of the American Hospital Association’s Committee on Governance. This was an unique honor - a group of only 26 individuals elected by their peers, at a time where over 4,500 hospitals were in the association’s network.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Leslie (Shapiro) Raven; a daughter Jane (Brad) Rosen and their children: Elana Rosen and Sydney Rosen; a son David (Marisa) Raven; brothers: Jeremy Raven, identical twin brother Joel (Linda Rakolta) Raven, and Marc (Wendy) Raven.
